Peer mediation

Peer mediation is the use of a 'go between' to help children who are in conflict to find a way of positively settling their differences. We highly value this child-centred approach to integrating the practice of conflict resolution.

What do Peer Mediators do?

  • Give all children a chance to tell their side of the story
  • Allow them to make their own decisions
  • Give them the opportunity to find a solution to their problems which everyone accepts and thinks is fair

The Learning Mentors across our schools have delivered peer mediation training to our Year 6 pupils. Our pupils are timetabled to support the younger children at playtimes. By helping our pupils to resolve and learn from interpersonal disputes, our peer mediation program also advances our shared educational mission to encourage self awareness and responsibility.
